F4F Wildcat in detail by Bert Kinzey (65)
F4F Wildcat In Detail & Scale, Squadron/Signal Publications. F-Fighter F-Grumman (mfr). When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, 7 December 1941, our most modern Navy fighter was the Grumman F4F Wildcat. Although it was small, it was not as fast or maneuverable as the Japanese Zero Fighter, but it was a very durable machine. And in the hands of an experienced pilot the Wildcat could best the feared Zero. Thankfully, the Wildcat was able to fend off the enemy until the more powerful Hellcat was available about a year later. FEATURES: Informative and well written introduction describing various designs of the F4F Wildcat and talks about its history. Many excellent color and black and white photographs, each depicting a certain aspect of the aircraft.
