God chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of their captivity in Egypt and into the Promised Land of Canaan. Through the journey, God provided His people with food and water and showed them the way. Even when the Israelites built a golden calf idol, God did not turn His back on them. Instead, He forgave them and continued to provide for them for forty years on their journey.
