In Genesis 11:1-9, God commands the people to scatter over the earth, but they disobey and build the Tower of Babel.

God wanted the world to be filled with people, some on every part of the earth. The people rejected God’s command and thought they could be more powerful all together, that they wouldn’t need God anymore. Before they could finish proving their power by building the Tower of Babel, God confused their speech so they would all speak different languages. He reminded them that only He is the most powerful and that they could do nothing without Him.
