US Tank Battles in Germany 1944-45 - 7046
by Steven J. Zaloga
The US campaign in Germany began sooner than anticipated in mid-September 1944. With the decimation of the German army in the West in a sequence of summer encirclement battles at Falaise, the Seine river, and finally the Mons pocket in Belgium, the Wehrmacht was in headlong retreat. The US army first breached the Siefried Line, then assaulted the Roar river, fought the Battle of the Bulge, crossed the Rhine, on to the Elbe, sealed the Ruhr Pocket, and finally pushed into Bavaria.
This book is packed with high quality crisp photos from the US Army Signal Corps and various museums and archives. Photos depict both US and German armor fighting against each other in late 1944 to 1945. Many never before published photos provide a good source of reference for historians and modelers alike. Especially interesting are photos of M31 and M32 recovery tanks in action, M4 with T1E3 mine roller, Pershing in combat, Sd.Kfz.251/21 with triple Drilling MG151S, up-armored Shermans, M10 and M36 tank destroyers, M4 Calliope, knocked out T26E3, destroyed Jagdpanther, Hetzer, Pz.IV/70(A), Sturmtiger, Jagdtiger etc. The color plates feature German heavy armor and US armor including Super Pershing.
