Developed as a replacement for the U.S. Air Force's legendary T-6 Texan, the T-28 proved to be as versatile, serving both the USAF and U.S. Navy in the primary, basic, advanced, instrument, and carrier qualification training roles for 30 years, and, rebuilt with strengthened wings, serving as a counter-insurgency aircraft in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Central and South America.
