Engineering of Transport Vehicles, Chief of Ordnance-Detroit 1942-1945 (MVPA Reprint)
Produced by the Ordnance Department in 1945 to catalogue the engineering changes made during World War II to tactical wheeled vehicles from 1/4-ton to 10-ton, along with trailers, semi-trailers, mobile shop vans and other vehicles.
Each vehicle's section opens with a brief background, the companies that produced it and a short technical description, followed by the changes made during its production run and the dates they were introduced. Coverage varies with the number of changes: the 2 1/2-ton 6x6 and 6x4 trucks take 18 pages, while the M21 ammunition trailer has two; the 7 1/2-ton Mack NO prime mover had six changes of note, and the DUKW 145.
An invaluable source for anyone documenting the history and evolution of a specific World War II vehicle.
